Richard Payha

Dr. Richard Payha's career is marked by his involvement in rural surgical practices. He performed a wide range of procedures at Waynesburg Hospital, including general surgeries, obstetrics, and gynecology. A particularly memorable experience was assisting in the birth of a baby girl during a snowstorm, underscoring his adaptability and unwavering commitment to patient care. He transitioned to academic surgery to seek more complex cases and educational opportunities. He joined the faculty at Seton Hill University and Allegheny Health Network, where he mentored surgical residents, medical students, and physician assistant students. His dedication to teaching earned him respect and admiration from peers and students. Dr. Richard Payha's expertise also extends to breast health. He served as the Medical Director of the Breast Health Center at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital. In this role, he managed patient care from diagnosis to discharge, specializing in breast surgery, hernia repair, gallbladder, bowel, and soft tissue mass excision. His work in this field has significantly impacted many patients.
