Barbara Gentile-Crary, as an avid scuba diver, became interested in underwater photography early in her career. She went on to become a PADI instructor achieving over 10 specialites and her Master Scuba Diver Trainer rating. Her husband, Carter who owns Malibu Divers has provided her with a regular outlet for pursuing her interests by sponsoring dive trips to faraway locations around the world and in our own fantastic local waters. She works with various suppliers and other professionals for her camera and scuba equipment, interior designers, office or business managers, and private collectors. Her work appears in office buildings, medical facilities, private homes and museums. She has been invited to present her photographs, and her stories for organizations, businesses, schools and a variety of clubs. She was born in Manhattan and raised on Long Island, New York. She graduated from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and received her MBA from the University of Arizona in Tucson. After living in Boise, Idaho and Northern California, she moved to Los Angeles in 1986. Over the years, Barbara has traveled for business and pleasure to China, Japan, Palau, Europe, the Carribean, Mexico, Belize, and Roatan. She has served as a NGO United Nations delegate, Board Chairperson and President of nonprofits and other professional organizations. It is always on the go for her, juggling multiple careers, interests and volunteer activities has been a way of life. She is currently writing a book called, "What YOU Knee'd to Know" that is due to be published later this year and continues to train scuba divers. She also enjoys the great outdoors by skiing, mountain biking, hiking, surfing, and fishing.
